Midtown Manhattan is an interesting place. One of my all time favorite soundscapes, it features everything from industrial noise, blasts of random music, characters of every description, drug dealers, tourists, cat calls, bird calls, ping pong, bikes, trash trucks, weed trucks, and various other surprises. A walk across town is always an adventure.
Midtown Binaural is a collage of ambisonic field recordings taken in the areas of 36th street and 8th ave, Bryant Park, and 9th ave in Hells Kitchen. The recordings are primarily unprocessed, and are encoded into binaural stereo for headphone listening.
While listening, remember that the average noise level in Manhattan is between 75db to 110db. Please play this loud!
